MIBT Collection

The Library supports the courses provided by the Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT). The Institute in association with Deakin University provides courses in the areas of business/commerce, computing/information technology, mass communication and health sciences at the Melbourne Burwood Campus and science and engineering at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus. The Certificate courses are pre-university courses and are equivalent to upper secondary school (year 12) and university foundation. The programs are designed to prepare students for university studies or employment. The Diploma programs are based on and are equivalent to the first year of specific Deakin University Bachelor degree courses.

The collection reflects the undergraduate nature of courses and the subjects studied.

Selection Criteria

All material on reading lists should be acquired. Other material is selected by MIBT teaching staff in collaboration with the MIBT Liaison Librarian. It is important that new, current materials are purchased on a regular and ongoing basis to support MIBT students.

Location

The print collection is primarily housed at the campus where MIBT teaching is undertaken. At present, this is the Melbourne at Burwood campus and the Geelong at Waurn Ponds campus.

Electronic resources

The Library endeavours to provide access to electronic resources required to support MIBT courses. However, electronic resources are subject to licensing or contract agreements and this may limit their availability to MIBT students. Access to specific electronic resources can be negotiated separately, on a title-by-title basis with each provider -this can be undertaken upon request by a MIBT staff. Please contact your Liaison Librarian.

Databases currently available for use by MIBT students can be found at the databases for MIBT students page
