This collection covers philosophy, metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics, religion, natural theology, the Bible, Christian theology, the Christian church, and comparative religions.

Purpose of the collection

The Library collects in the fields of Philosophy and Religion primarily to support the teaching and research needs of the School of International & Political Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Education. Resources in this area are also used to varying degrees other Schools in the University.

Users/Courses supported by the collection

The Faculty of Arts and Education offers an undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts, with a major sequence in Philosophy.

Postgraduate research degrees are available in the areas of philosophical and religious studies.

Existing Collection:

Major online databases such as Academic Search Complete, Expanded Academic ASAP, Philosopher’s Index, Religion and Philosophy Collection, Humanities International Complete. PEP Archive and Sociological Abstracts provide access to a range of information.

Selection Notes:

Aspects of this collection are relevant mainly at Melbourne and Geelong at Waurn Ponds with some interest in ethics at all campuses. Geelong at Waurn Ponds is the main campus for religion.
