What can you access and borrow?

The Library has an extensive collection of resources to support the University's teaching, learning and research activities, including:

  • 1.29 million books
  • 251,702 e-books
  • 102,087 e-journals
  • 420 online databases
  • 31,046 DVDs and videos
  • 33,974 online videos
  • 3.4 million plus images
  • 83,416 items in special collections.

What facilities are available at our libraries?

  • Nearly 1,500 study seats available in a variety of styles including zoned study spaces, group study areas, silent study areas and casual seating zones
  • Computers and group tutorial spaces
  • Laptops, e-readers, and recording devices can be borrowed from selected libraries
  • A saturated wireless network so you can use your own laptop or device.

How our services and facilties were used in 2012

In 2012 the Library saw significant increases in use of electronic articles and visitors to the Library.

  • 301,908 items were borrowed, including 121,300 items checked out using the self-checkout units
  • Over 150,000 items were used within the campus libraries
  • 201,292 items were renewed online
  • 26,285 items were dispatched to off-campus students
  • 52,711 items were lent to users at other campuses
  • More than 3 million electronic articles were accessed
  • 1,675,907 people visited the library
  • 97,260 enquiries were received
  • 25,000 books, videos and DVDs were added to the collection.
