Role:

The position provides strategic business support and high-level advice to the University Librarian/Executive Director, Academic Support and Library senior managers. As a key member of the Library Executive, the Director contributes to the development of the Library’s responses to the University’s strategic agenda. Through the development and analysis of business case models, and overseeing the administration, monitoring and review of the Division’s resources and business processes, the position ensures the Library is maximising the effectiveness of services delivered to clients. The Library’s services reach out to students, academic staff, researchers, partners, alumni and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership in managing and reviewing the Library’s resources to maximise the effectiveness of services and support provided to students, academic staff, researchers, partners, alumni and the community
• Provide a strategic focus to financial management within the Library to ensure current budget outcomes are met and financial strategies are developed in response to Deakin’s strategic agenda, and the highly dynamic global information industry within which the Library operates
• Provide high-level advice and support to the University Librarian/Executive Director, Academic Support and library managers in workforce planning, workforce development and business improvement functions
• Provide leadership in managing the Library’s strategic intelligence and planning requirements, and developing and implementing best approaches and processes for the delivery of quality Library services
• Oversee the space planning and management of the campus libraries and staff work spaces, develop business cases and lead projects as appropriate
• Ensure the implementation of all University policies that relate to the areas for which the position is responsible, in particular, those relating to equal opportunity, occupational health and safety, risk management, staff development and staff performance planning and review.
