Role:

To provide the Library with professional financial and human resource services that support the Division's strategic objectives. To provide strategic business support, developing and analysing business case models, and ensuring the administration, monitoring and review of the Division's resources and business processes is conducted in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, analyse and report to the University Librarian / Executive Director, Academic Support and the Financial and Business Services Division in relation to the monthly and ongoing financial activities of the Library, and advise on the appropriate use of resources in order to meet budgetary and strategic objectives including the identification of opportunities for improvement
  • Develop the Library's budget based on Library and University strategic and operational targets. Provide reports and advice to the Library's Senior Management Team on monthly and year-to-date variances
  • Oversee all divisional expenditure, capital and non-capital, including staffing. Monitoring of the information resources commitment and expenditure, and managing the reconciliation between the Library Management System's records with the University's finance system. Co-ordinate the space and asset management process for the Division
  • Develop and implement business models for large-scale procurement activities to manage the Library's resources
  • Manage significant collaborative purchasing arrangements including the preparation and monitoring of tenders, licences and business contracts (in excess of 2000) in accordance with the Library's requirements, University financial policies and relevant legal requirements
  • Monitor, maintain and analyse the staffing profile for the Division, ensuring the provision of sound advice to the Director and senior managers to ensure the ongoing review, development and implementation of staffing strategies. Management and oversight of all divisional human resource issues to facilitate and implement Human Resource practices and policies
  • Responsible for ensuring implementation of all relevant university policies, in particular those relating to the Financial and Business Services Division and the human Resources Division such as equal opportunity, OH&S, staff development, and staff performance planning and review.
