Role:

The Manager, Digital Services, leads the strategic development of library services in relation to digital information and digital discovery, providing strategic direction and advice, and coordinating initiatives across the Library, to ensure the full range of library expertise and resources are utilised in building and providing access to online scholarly collections and library services. The Manager works closely with Information Technology Services Division, Knowledge Media Division and other stakeholders throughout the University to develop and expand library services that connect the University community with digital scholarly information. The Manager also acts as Deputy for the Associate Universtiy Librarian, Information Management and Access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate library-wide initiatives to improve access to scholarly resources and information and the delivery of online library services and resources to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the University.
  • Manage the effective development, provision and evaluation of the Library’s digital discovery services, including the Library’s website and the University’s research repository, Deakin Research Online.
  • Plan, implement and manage strategic initiatives in relation to the provision of access to scholarly information, digital discovery, digital repositories and digital resources, and collaborate with Library and University staff to meet objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of the Library’s Work Plan within the context of the University planning, and take responsibility for delivering assigned actions and targets.
  • Act as Deputy to the Associate Universtiy Librarian, Information Management and Access.
  • Ensure the implementation of all University policies that relate to the areas for which the position is responsible, in particular, those relating to equal opportunity, occupational health and safety, risk management, staff development and staff performance planning and review.
