Kindles

The basics

Each campus Library has a number of Kindles available for 14 day loan from the information service desk.

The Kindles are supplemented with an introductory kit. This includes a summary of the titles on the e-reader, frequently asked questions and terms and conditions of use.

How do I?

Switch the Kindle on/off?

On the top of the Kindle there is a button. Slide this to the right and hold to activate the device.

To switch it off, hold the slide to the right until the screen turns blank.

If a picture appears on the screen, the device is in stand-by mode and will continue to drain the battery.

You will need to turn the device on before attempting to turn it off again. Please ensure that when returning the device it is fully switched off.

Know when I need to charge the Kindle?

On the top of the Kindle there is a button. Slide this to the right and hold to activate the device.

There is a battery icon at the top right of screen. An exclamation mark will appear when power becomes low.

If this occurs during the time you have the device on loan, please return the item to the service desk and they will re-charge it for you. It takes 3 hours for a full re-charge.
