How do I request a loan?

When you request a loan you are creating a 'hold' for that item.

  • Search the library catalogue for the book, DVD, or other item you need
  • The status of the item will tell you if it's available or not. If you can see a due date next to your item then it's on loan. You can still request it but you may have to wait
  • Click on Request it
  • You'll be prompted to log in with your Deakin username and password. Alumni and Community members log in with your family name, Library ID and pin
  • Submit the request and select the Pickup Location that suits you best. Delivery can take up to 4 days.

You can request and borrow from any of our four campuses and borrow from other libraries if we don't have what you need.

How do I request a copy?

Copies of journal articles or book chapters not available online can be requested by Deakin staff and students.

  • Complete and submit the Copy request form
  • Detailed information will make it easier to locate what you want so try to include:
    • journal/book title
    • title of the article/chapter
    • author/s
    • which volume and/or issue/chapter number
    • the year
    • the page numbers
  • The copy will be supplied to you via email or post if you prefer.
