Follow these tips to get the most out of Scholar, your mobile device or web browser when looking for Library resources

Google Scholar settings

Use the FIND IT @ DEAKIN link in Google Scholar to access the full text of an article.

If FIND IT @ DEAKIN is not appearing next to your results:

  1. Select Settings from your list of results or from the Google scholar homepage
  2. Select Library links
  3. Search for Deakin
  4. Tick Deakin University Library - FIND IT @ DEAKIN
  5. Save.

Note: Cookies must be enabled for your browser to remember your settings.

Mobile friendly sites and apps

Many Library resources, including Library Search, are now mobile friendly.

There is a mobile-friendly version of the Library catalogue.

The Mobile Device Resources Guide lists mobile friendly websites and apps for your faculty.


LibX is a browser plugin that enhances access to Library resources. When installed, you can:

  • Highlight selected text from any web page by right clicking to bring up a context menu, then search to see if the Library holds that resource
  • Turn any International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN) featured on web a page into links. Click the link to see if the Library holds the title
  • Check Library holdings when in Amazon and other sites by clicking on the Deakin logo
  • Get enhanced access to Google Scholar by dragging and dropping selected text into the Google Scholar button in the LibXtoolbar
