Enhancements Timelines
[subject to approval at the 2011 AGM]
AIUG members are encouraged to contribute to the formal enhancements process which currently operates throughout the year as follows:
Submit an enhancement request directly to Innovative via the online form on CSDirect
http://csdirect.iii.com/support/scheduling/enhancement_request.php
"Use this form to submit an enhancement request for functionality that you would like to see added to the system... Enhancement suggestions submitted directly to Innovative using the form below will be routed to the appropriate Product Manager for review. Upon submission, you will receive an automated email confirmation."
Submit an enhancement through the Innovative Users Group process (restricted to IUG members)
http://innovativeusers.org/iug-enhancements-menu
"The IUG plays a vital role in the decision making process to provide enhancements to the Millennium/INNOPAC system. Through this cooperative process, IUG members make suggestions, vote for system enhancements, and are afforded a unified voice for improving the system functionality... You may submit enhancements all year long through IUG... IUG enhancement requests are assigned a higher priority than general enhancement suggestions, but there are no guarantees that a specific enhancement will be implemented... IUG's input to Innovative is highly valued... The number of enhancements on the ballot and number of "top vote getters" for each category will be determined proportionally by the number of submissions in each category."
In addition to these more recent initiatives for submitting enhancement requests, the AIUG continues to have a role in lobbying for those enhancements considered important to its membership.
According to advice provided by Innovative [shared by Lynne Billington, SLNSW in late 2010] the AIUG "should lobby for enhancements and that there was power in numbers". This lobbying can be achieved by AIUG Site Coordinators:
1. September -- October: sending major enhancement suggestion/s directly to the AIUG Enhancements Coordinator approx. one month prior to the annual conference, for discussion at the pre-conference meeting
[in September 2011, Lisa McIntosh posted a request for enhancements to the AIUG listserv to be emailed to her by 14th October]
2. May -- December: submitting your site's enhancement request/s via the IUG website
This process is open throughout the year until mid December.
[in 2011 it closes on 16th December]
3. March: reviewing all submissions to the IUG website and voting in the ballot
The ballot is open for approx one month prior to the annual IUG conference.
[in 2012 it operates between 5th - 30th March]
4. March: prioritising 'top 3' of all entries in the IUG final ballot and forwarding these to AIUG Enhancements Coordinator to be collated into spreadsheet for AIUG Chair to take to meeting with Innovative staff at IUG conference
This list needs to be finalised at the same time that the IUG ballot closes.
[in 2012 the IUG is scheduled between 15th - 18th April]
5. May -- June: AIUG Chair reports back to membership
An email should be sent to Site Coordinators post the IUG meeting with Innovative and/or feedback given as part of report to the following AIUG conference.
