The Library supports the courses provided by the Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT). The Institute in association with Deakin University provides courses in the areas of business/commerce, computing/information technology, mass communication and health sciences at the Melbourne Campus at Burwood and science and engineering at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds. The Certificate courses are pre-university courses and are equivalent to upper secondary school (year 12) and university foundation. The programs are designed to prepare students for university studies or employment. The Diploma programs are based on and are equivalent to the first year of specific Deakin University Bachelor degree courses.
The collection reflects the undergraduate nature of courses and the subjects studied.

All material on reading lists should be acquired. Other material is selected by MIBT teaching staff in collaboration with the MIBT Liaison Librarian.
It is important that new, current materials are purchased on a regular and ongoing basis to support MIBT students.
The print collection is primarily housed at the campus where MIBT teaching is undertaken. At present, this is the Melbourne at Burwood campus and the Geelong at Waurn Ponds campus.
The Library endeavours to provide access to all electronic resources required to support MIBT courses. Electronic resources are subject to licensing or contract agreements and since MIBT students are not classified as Deakin University students, access to specific electronic resources must be negotiated separately, on a title-by-title basis with each provider. This can be undertaken upon receipt of a request by MIBT academic staff.
