Deakin University Doctoral and Masters Research theses

  • The University intends to introduce an online examination system which will require candidates to submit a digital copy of their thesis. A copy of the final corrected version will be forwarded from the Examinations Office to the Library. The Library will store the digital thesis in Deakin Research Online and provide an additional copy on a physical carrier (such as a CD) in the Library collection.
  • Candidates are no longer required to provide bound copies for deposit in the Library collection unless a digital version cannot be provided, or the thesis is significantly altered in the digital form. Any queries regarding the deposit process should be directed to Research Services Division.
  • Bound copies of past students theses are housed in the campus libraries and one copy of each thesis is available for loan and interlibrary loan.
  • Past students can deposit a digital copy of their doctoral or masters thesis for preservation purposes. When depositing your thesis you will be able to give permission for its public release, should you wish.
  • Higher degree by research theses completed by Deakin University graduates are listed in the Library catalogue and on Deakin Research Online. Some theses are available fulltext in Deakin Research Online.

Australian theses

  • Australasian Digital Theses Program (ADTP). The aim of this project is to establish a distributed database of digital versions of theses produced by the postgraduate research students at Australian Universities. It is based on input from Australian and New Zealand university libraries. The ADT Program is evolving, and most Australian theses, along with other research outputs, can now also be found in Australian Research Online (ARO). In some cases, the fulltext will also be available online.Information regarding Deakin University theses is now supplied to both of these from Deakin Research Online.
  • Trove (Libraries Australia) is national database of material held in Australian libraries. To find theses, type keywords from author, title, and/or institution and add thesis in the keyword search box. .
