Francis Gargan's adoption of the prayer composed by the saint after
whom he was named must have been answered.
Local Magistrates are able to sum up local lawyers appearing before
them very easily. When Frank Gargan appeared he was greeted by a
smile of welcome.
He had an air of affable serenity. Like others whose grandparents
or earlier ancestors came to Australia from Ireland he had a secure Christian
faith, a love of poetry, a fondness of sport and a commitment to help others.
He did this by acting as an honest and able solicitor for his clients for
59 years. As well as other charitable work he served on the Geelong
Hospital Board for 29 years.
