"Don't worry it may never happen."
Eustace Wilson had this exhortation on a board in his office immediately
behind where he was sitting at his desk. It reflected his attitude
to life and his experience in looking after clients. Many clients
consult a solicitor because of apprehension of some personal loss or distress.
Experience shows that by the time the client has, with the help of some
analytical questioning from the solicitor, explained the problem worrying
them, they have, themselves, solved the problem.
In 1899, at the time Eustace Wilson became a member of the firm of Harwood
and Pincott, he was probably the most academically qualified solicitor
practising in Geelong. Most solicitors in practice then had qualified
by serving Articles and passing examinations set by the Board of Examiners.
As can be seen from his obiturary held in this collection he put his training
to good use. Academic and legal training was no inhibition on enjoying
a life of sport and other public activities.
