Essential library tips

  • My Library
Check your borrowing record, renew loans, view your reading history and request items.
  • Library Resource Guides
Library Resource Guides provide a source of quality online academic journals, ebooks, subject databases and websites related to your specific area of study.

  • Register for Interlibrary Loans
Items not held by Deakin University may be borrowed from other libraries by post-graduate students and Deakin staff through the Interlibrary Loans service. You must register for the service before you begin to request interlibrary loans.
  • Late return of items
The Library does not charge fines for overdue borrowed material. An Overdue Point system is used instead.

  • Use libraries of other universities
Obtain a CAVAL card from any campus Library to borrow from libraries of other Universities or TAFEs within Victoria. To use interstate University libraries a reciprocal arrangement is available.

  • Ask a student rover
Library student rovers move around the library providing assistance as you need it. They are "here to help".

  • Create an Alumni or Community login
Alumni and Community borrowers require a Library PIN to enable access to My Library, request items through the catalogue and access some Library databases.
Your Library ID number: Located at the bottom of your borrowing card is your unique library ID number. It begins with "X011" eg. X0115001001011. Please note that these are numbers only.
