Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)

Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) is a federal government initiative administered by the Australian Research Council, to assess research quality across all higher education institutions in Australia. The initiative was launched in February 2008 by Senator Kim Carr.

The ERA assessment criteria includes a combination of quality indicators and peer review by international experts. Details about clusters and reporting requirements are available on the Deakin Research webpages.

Deakin University research outputs required for the ERA audit should be submitted to Deakin Research Online (DRO). DRO is the University’s research repository, the new place to report research outputs as part of both the HERDC and ERA processes. An added bonus for researchers is that DRO can increase the visibility, access and impact of research publications and store various versions of papers and supporting materials. Find out more about how DRO can enhance the dissemination of your research.
