Library authentication is based on three elements:
1. Family name
2. Library ID number (barcode starting X011... on your Deakin University ID card. Note this is X<zero> not XO.)
3. Library PIN
Library authentication is used by the My Library feature of the Catalogue, which allows you to:
Library authentication allows you to access Articles via databases remotely from home or offices. Other Online resources may also require authentication.
Your Library ID number is different to your Deakin University ID number.
To create your Library PIN, go to Create your PIN.
Sometimes (depending on the ISP and browser you use), you may be prompted for a security certificate associated with library authentication. In this case it is recommended you either accept the certificate or add it to your browser. The certificate is designed to protect your authentication details over the Internet when you make use of the library authentication option. Adding the certificate to your browser will mean you are not prompted again for a 12 month (or longer) period. Various web browsers will prompt for installation of a security certificate in different ways. Examples of these prompts are detailed in the EZproxy security certificates (PDF format 400kb) document. Certificates generated from: ezproxy.deakin.edu.au are safe to use - they are generated by the Deakin University Library authentication server.
