| General collection |
- This collection includes books, DVDs, videos, curriculum resource material, that is available for general loan.
- Some restrictions apply for some material, such as off-air recordings.
- Items may be able to be requested so that they are reserved/held for you to borrow. An item that has been requested can not be borrowed by anyone other than the person who has requested it.

| 1 day loans |
- Prescribed texts and other high use items are available for 1 day loan.
- These items have a
1 day loan sticker on the spine and are shelved in the general collection.
- These items are only available to Deakin University staff and students.
- These items are not sent to off campus staff and students.

| 2 hour loans (Reserve) |
- Certain unit related materials are available from Reserve for
a 2 hour loan.
- Items may be taken out of the Library. If item/s are borrowed within 2 hours of library closing time, they may be borrowed overnight and returned within the first hour of opening the following day.
- Items returned late will incur higher number of overdue points than for general collection items.
- Item/s must be returned to the campus library from which they were borrowed.
- These items are only available to Deakin University staff and students.
- These items are not sent to off campus staff and students.

| 7 day loans |
- Prescribed texts and other high use items are available for 7 day loan.
- These items have a 7 day loan sticker on the spine and are shelved in the general collection.
- These items are only available to Deakin University staff and students.
- Staff are allowed to borrow 7 day loan items. A delivery time of 4 days to deliver the item, and 4 days to return the item, is added to the period.
- Renewals on 7 day loan items are available if another client has not requested the item, the number of renewals allowed depends on the category of student.
- Off campus students/staff are allowed to borrow 7 day loan items. A delivery time of 4 days to deliver the item, and 4 days to return the item, is added to the standard loan period.
- Overseas off campus students are allowed to borrow 7 day loan items and delivery time of 14 days to delivery the item and 14 days to return the item is added to the standard loan period.
