Lost Property

Lost property found in the Library can be handed to staff at the Service Desk at your campus library.

When something is handed to library staff they will:

  • try to contact the owner, if they can be identified and if the item is valuable.Once contact has been made, the item however will follow the normal path of lost property, as mentioned below, unless a date to collect has been agreed.
  • note the date/time, and where the item was found, and a description of the item.
  • keep the item for a maximum of 1 week, after which time the item is taken to Deakin Central.

If you have lost something in the Library you can contact the Library or ask at the Service Desk at your campus library. Please note that the item will be returned in the condition that it has been received in.

When reclaiming lost items, you will be required to provide proof of ownership/identity and/or identity of the item, to the satisfaction of the member of staff handling the reclaim of the item.

All uncollected items are packaged and sent to Deakin Central on a weekly basis.
