Link to a full text article or publication on APA-FT Australian Public Affairs Full Text or AGIS Plus Text

You can create a persistent link to articles or publications from the Australian Public Affairs Full Text or the Attorney General's Information Service Plus Text databases available from Informit.

While most PDF documents are a reasonable size, some documents in these databases are very large. In this case it may be better to link to the summary page providing information about the ABS publication rather than the publication itself. This will give remote or off campus students the opportunity to choose if they want to download a very large PDF document or not.

Articles or publications could be linked from reading lists, additional readings, or as a reference within the text.

Linking to publications in APAFT or AGIS Plus Text

  1. Connect to APAFT using this link or AGISPlus Text using this link, this will by pass the library's EZ Proxy authentication server. (You must be on campus to use this link to then create the persistent link, but the link will then work from off campus).
  2. Search for an article on the required topic.
  3. Check the "Full Text Records Only" box.
  4. From the results list, select the required reference.
  5. In the right hand "Full text sources.." drop down menu, select "Informit PDF".
  6. This opens the article in a new window.
  7. The top black bar of this window has the full reference details of the article including a line with the URL. It will look like this:
Title: Principles and pragmatism : the Democrats' demise
    Author: Teese, Colin
    Source: News Weekly, 7 Sept 2002 : 14-15
    URL: http://search.informit.com.au/fullText;dn=200209520;res=APAFT
  8. Copy the URL using the Edit Copy menu. It should look like this:
    http://search.informit.com.au/fullText;dn=200002780;res=APAFT
  9. Put the following prefix immediately in front of the URL in your document, linking area etc:
    http://ezproxy.deakin.edu.au/login?url=
    See example below.
  10. Copy this URL and use it to link to the article from your webpage or DSO URL link.
