Link to a full text article on IEEE Xplore (IEEE and IEE Journals)

You can create a persistent link to articles within IEEE Xplore Journal titles.

IEEE Xplore provides access to abstracts and full-text of:

  • IEEE journals, transactions, and magazines
  • IEEE conference proceedings
  • IEE journals
  • IEE conference proceedings
  • Current IEEE standards

Articles could be linked from reading lists, additional readings, or a reference within the text.

Example: Article from IEEE Xplore

Cardenas, R. and Pena, R., "Sensorless Vector Control of Induction Machines for Variable-Speed Wind Energy Applications",
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, Vol. 19 , (1) , March 2004, pp.196 - 205

Note: this link goes to the abstract page - helpful if the PDF of the article is large, and students may want to choose to download over a modem or not.

Example: Journal link from IEEE Xplore

You can also read IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology for current research articles.

How to do it:
  1. Connect to IEEE Xplore using this link this will by pass the library's EZ Proxy authentication server. (You must be on campus to use this link to then create the persistent link, but the link will then work from off campus).
  2. Search for an article or journal title.
  3. Browse the journals to find the article and select the year and issue.
  4. On the Table of Contents screen, click PDF Full Text to go directly to the PDF full text of the article. Copy the URL from the Internet Explorer Address window.
    eg. http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/iel5/6/28299/01265117.pdf?isNumber=28299&prod=
    JNL&arnumber=1265117&arSt=+10&ared=+12&arAuthor=+Sweet%2C+W.
  5. Alternatively, on the Table of Contents screen, click the right mouse button on the link to PDF Full Text, then choose Copy Shortcut.
  6. Insert the following prefix immediately in front of the URL you copied in the previous step:
    http://ezproxy.deakin.edu.au/login?url=
  7. Use the resulting URL to make the link direct to the journal title level eg:
    http://ezproxy.deakin.edu.au/login?url=http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/iel5/6/28299/01265117.pdf?isNumber=
    28299&prod= JNL&arnumber=1265117&arSt=+10&ared=+12&arAuthor=+Sweet%2C+W.
  8. Copy this URL and use it to link to the article from your webpage, or quote the URL in printed reading lists.
Example of a IEEE Xplore article link:

Sweet, William, "Energy Answer - Blowing in the Wind", IEEE Spectrum, Volume: 41, Issue: 2, Year: Feb. 2004, PP. 10- 12

http://ezproxy.deakin.edu.au/login?url=http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/iel5/6/28299/01265117.pdf?isNumber=
28299&prod= JNL&arnumber=1265117&arSt=+10&ared=+12&arAuthor=+Sweet%2C+W.
