Link to a full text book on Knovel (Science and Engineering Books)

You can create a persistent link to specific books within the Knovel database.

Knovel provides access to the full-text of a wide range of over 450 science and engineering publications. Knovel offers a combination of aggregated information, proprietary analysis tools and technology allowing researchers to obtain information across multiple sources and information formats. Many major print reference titles are reproduced in, and are able to be searched as part of Knovel.

Titles could be linked from reading lists, additional readings, or a reference within the text.

How to make a persistent URL link to books in Knovel
  1. Connect to Knovel using this link this will by pass the library's EZproxy authentication server. (You must be on campus to use this link to then create the persistent link, but the link will then work from off campus).
  2. At the Knovel homepage, Click Content on the left hand sidebar, then select All Titles from the menu.
  3. Browse through the A-Z list to find the ebook title then either...
    a. right click on the link then choose Copy Shortcut; or
    b. left click the link to go to the table of contents, then copy the URL from the Internet Explorer or Firefox Address panel.
  4. Check that the URL is in the correct format.
    The URL should look something like this:
    http://www.knovel.com/knovel2/Toc.jsp?BookID=501
  5. Insert the following prefix immediately in front of the URL you copied in the previous step:
    http://ezproxy.deakin.edu.au/login?url=
  6. Use the resulting URL to make the link direct to the book title level eg:
    http://ezproxy.deakin.edu.au/login?url=http://www.knovel.com/knovel2/Toc.jsp?BookID=501
  7. Copy this URL and use it to link to the article from your webpage, or quote the URL in printed reading lists.

IMPORTANT: If you find a journal through browsing subject collections or by searching, the link will be in a different format and will not work. There must be no spaceid number in the URL. For example, the following URL will not work:
