Community Borrower Library membership
The Deakin University Library is open to members of the community and you are welcome to visit and use the facilities. If you want to borrow material and access selected online resources, you will need to join the Library.
Access to Resources
- the Library collection includes over 1.5 million items and over 70,000 journal titles (some restrictions may apply)
- access to selected electronic resources photocopying/scanning facilities. Membership access to electronic resources is personal, non commercial, and not to be shared with other individuals.
Cost
- $120 (inc GST) - 12 month membership. $60 (inc GST) - 6 month membership.
Registration
- Complete application form and take to any campus library, with a cheque or credit card details. Photo ID and proof of current Australian address is required, such as a copy of your utility bill (e.g.,phone, power, rates, water), which includes your name and address.
- Cash payments or EFTPOS can be made in person on weekdays at the Cashier's office during business hours, at any campus. Note that cash payments cannot be made at the Library.
OUA - Open University Australia students
- Resources and facilities are made available at your own institution library. Deakin University Library can offer you a Community Borrower Library membership, if you want to borrow items from the collection, and have access to electronic resources.

Overseas university staff and students
- Staff and students from overseas universities are welcome to become Library members upon proof of enrolment/employment at an overseas university.
- To become a member of the Library you will need to complete an application form and submit it to any campus library. If you are only living in Australia temporarily, some other form of photo identification must be provided, as well as proof of your temporary Australian address, and your permanent home (overseas) address. Australian staff and students from overseas institutions must provide proof of enrolment/employment and proof of your current address. Photo identification is also required.
- Membership is for free and for six months only.
