Databases available to Community Members

Access to these selected online databases are for individuals who have paid a library membership, including Alumni members.

Please note:

Other free databases and resources are available at other locations.

You will need your Library Borrowing Number to use the databases and a PIN (Personal Identification Number).
Once your membership has been processed you will receive your Library ID card, which includes your Library borrowing number starting x011..... (x zero 11....). You are able to create a PIN, when first logging in to a database.

Restrictions: All use of electronic resources subscribed to by Deakin University Library is for educational, research or personal use. Restrictions are displayed under 'Licensing and Resource Info' for the individual resource. Information must not be used for commercial purposes or re-sold in any way. Any copyright resides with the original author or publisher.
EBSCOhost

Two sub-databases are available from the EBSCOhost database:

Academic Search Alumni Edition
Publisher description: "Academic Search Alumni Edition is designed for the research needs of the post-college professional. The database provides full text for more than 2,300 serials as well as indexing and abstracting for more than 8,000 serials. The database offers information in nearly every area of academic study including biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, and more. Academic Search Alumni Edition also includes valuable peer-reviewed full text journals, offering critical information from many sources."

Business Source Premier: Alumni Edition
Publisher description: "Business Source Premier: Alumni Edition is designed for the research needs of the post-college professional. The database provides more than 1,350 full text business magazines and journals, of which more than 350 are peer-reviewed. This database includes publications in nearly every area of business including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance, econometrics, economics and more. Business Source Alumni Edition includes full text sources ranging from general periodicals to trade publications and top management journals. Additional full text sources include country economic reports, industry reports, market research reports, company profiles and more."

Gale InfoTrac database

Four sub-databases are available from the Gale InfoTrac database:

Expanded Academic ASAP from 1980 onwards 
From arts and the humanities to  social sciences, science and technology.

Computer Database from 1980 onwards  
Use this database to find computer related product introductions, news, and reviews.

LegalTrac from 1980 onwards 
Use this database to research: Case Studies, Government Regulations, Practice of Law, Statutes, Taxation and International Law.

Health Reference Center Academic from 1980 onwards
Use this database to find articles on: Fitness, Pregnancy, Medicine, Nutrition, Diseases, Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Alcohol and Drug abuse, HMOs, prescription Drugs, etc.

 

Crown Content Australian Directories

Crown Content publishes a range of Australian reference directories:

The Australian local government guide
Publisher description: "The Local Guide to Government contains detailed listing of local councils throughout Australia. Included are contact details as well as a range of other useful information such as council expenditure/budgets, population, emergency services and regional industry."

Directory of Australian Associations
Publisher description: "With more than 5,500 entries the Directory of Australian Associations covers national and state associations, foundations, marketing bodies, institutes and committees. Also included are international associations with branches in Australia."

Margaret Gee's Australian Media Guide
Publisher description: "The Media Guide contains contact listings for all print and electronic media (including Internet media) as well as circulation figures, publication details and base advertising rates."

National Guide to Government
Publisher description: "Everything you need to know about government at federal and state levels. Containing detailed listings of the Senate, Parliamentary departments and Cabinet and Shadow ministries, the National Guide to Government provides easy access to all key contacts in Government."

Who's Who in Australia
Publisher description: "The complete reference guide to prominent Australians and Australian businesses."

Project MUSE

Project MUSE
Offers nearly 250 quality journal titles from 40 scholarly publishers...Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, economics and many others."
