Off campus students

Deakin University students who are eligible to use the Delivery Service:

  • all off campus students,

  • on campus student studying only off campus units,

  • students who has been approved to receive the service due to special circumstances.

Services include:

  • Being able to request delivery of books to your home or work, and electronic delivery of articles.
    At no cost to you as a library-paid return postage bag is included.

  • Request assistance for a search for information on a topic be conducted on your behalf to locate articles, books etc.

  • You may request parts of an item to be copied (such as a chapter of a book, or an article from a print journal), and made available online for you (in accordance with copyright regulations).

Borrowing in person at Deakin University Library, and from other libraries

You are welcome to visit the Deakin University Library in person. Please remember to bring your Deakin Card to borrow from the Library.

Also as a tertiary student, you may also be able to borrow from other libraries near you through the CAVAL or the ULA reciprocal borrower scheme.

Delivery and return of items

Items that you request can be delivered to your home or office.

  • Off campus students living within Australia are given a delivery time that is added to the loan period, of 4 days for the item to be delivered to you and 4 days for you to return the item.

  • Overseas off campus students are given a delivery time that is added to the loan period, of 14 days for the item to be delivered and 14 days for you to return the item. Learn more about services available to overseas students.

A prepaid postal return bag is provided with each package of items sent to you.

Unless you state a different address at the time of your request, the default delivery address will be the address that is on your student record.

You may return any item to any campus library.

Your "My Library" account

Using your My Library account - check your borrowing record, renew loans, view your reading history, request items.

Change your contact details - it is important to keep your contact information current.

How we contact you - how we send you reminders about items you have out on loan and other library information.

Loss of your Library borrower card - you are responsible for any items borrowed on your card.

Overseas off campus students

Available collections - items identified as '7 Day' loans are available to off campus student and the delivery time is added to the loan period (all other loan periods for other items have the delivery time included). 1 Day, 2 hour loans, and equipment are not included in the Delivery Service.
