Getting started : a library checklist

Obtain your Deakin Card.
Make sure you obtain your Deakin Card from the Division of Student Administration Your Deakin Card is the only accepted form of identification for students and staff. You will need this card to borrow books and other Library material. Add money to your card to pay for services such as photocopying and printing.
Locate your Library ID
Your Library ID is the number located at the bottom of your Deakin Card, underneath the barcode.
It begins with "X011" x zero one one eg. x0115001001011

Create your PIN
A Library PIN is required to enable you to access My Library, request items through the catalogue and access Library databases.
Login to My Library
Check your borrowing record, renew loans, view your reading history and change your PIN.
Copying , printing and scanning
Use your Deakin Card to pay for photocopying and printing in the Library.

Use libraries of other universities
If you wish to use libraries of other universities or TAFEs within Victoria you will need a CAVAL card, which you may obtain from any campus Library. To use interstate university libraries a reciprocal arrangement is available.

Register for Interlibrary Loans
Items not held by Deakin University may be borrowed from other libraries through the Interlibrary Loans service. Before you begin to request interlibrary loans, it's necessary to register.
