Introduction

The success of your research output, whether a thesis, grant proposal, journal article or book chapter is dependent upon your research input. The ability to determine what information you need, to know where to find it and how to assess its value are all vital research skills. These competencies are central to lifelong learning, a core commitment of Deakin University.

These pages have been written by the Library's Liaison Librarians. They aim to help postgraduate and higher degree students, and other researchers build upon skills developed during undergraduate study to become highly effective at gathering and processing information from quality sources, and to increase the focus on the process of publication of their own work. This building of research capacity is critical to student academic achievement and success.
