Living on campus has made my first two years of university very enjoyable and allowed me to acclimatise to city living. The residential team has helped me live in comfort, make life-long friends, and enjoy my first two “solo” years in Melbourne. It’s my final year living on campus but it doesn’t seem that long ago that my parents dropped me off. I feel more prepared than ever for life after uni.

Which is the right room for me?

This is purely a personal decision. As a general rule, shared accommodation options are more social. You use the same kitchen, lounge and dining area as the other students in your unit, which ensures you will interact with your peers.

Self-contained apartments allow you to cook in your own kitchenette and watch TV in seclusion. But there are also communal kitchens and breakout areas in the main buildings so you can study and relax with your fellow residents.

Shared spaces, shared lifestyle

Living on campus at Melbourne Burwood means you’ll have lots of places to study, enjoy a break, or catch up with friends. Some of the shared spaces include:

  • large common rooms with fully equipped kitchen, seating area, pool tables and table tennis
  • movie room
  • outdoor BBQ areas and a rooftop terrace
  • an outdoor atrium
  • landscaped gardens
  • study rooms
  • multipurpose recreational rooms.

Residential Leaders also run events where you can meet people and have a good time. There are events for everyone – from dinner with your closest neighbours to weekly netball and movie nights. They also organise trips to BOUNCE, board games, free food events, formal dinners and cafe crawls. They’re always looking for new ideas and suggestions are more than welcome.
