Our learning centre in Dandenong lets you study at Deakin without all the hassles of travel. In this quiet and welcoming environment right on your doorstep, we have all the tools you’ll need to study your course at Deakin.

Getting there

By train

Dandenong train station is a short 500-metre walk from the learning centre. The train station is serviced by the Cranbourne, Pakenham and South Gippsland lines, as well as numerous bus lines. It's one of the 10 busiest train stations in Melbourne so you'll never have to wait long for a train.

Driving

The learning centre is about 40 minutes from Melbourne by car, depending on traffic.

  • Take the M1 south
  • Take the M3 exit towards Frankston
  • Take the Cheltenham Road exit
  • Take George Street to Lonsdale Street in Dandenong

Parking

  • On-street parking in central Dandenong is mainly one- or two-hour ticket parking.
  • Council-managed car parks offer short term or all-day parking. Signs at each car park indicate times and fees.
  • Privately managed public parking is available in shopping centres, such as the nearby Dandenong Plaza.

  • The learning centre provides facilities and support to all Deakin students, including those studying online or at a campus.
  • Similar to any of Deakin’s campuses, you’ll find fully equipped classrooms, study rooms and plenty of learning resources available.
  • You'll be taught on-screen by university lecturers, and have ample support from on-site tutors. You can also get help from our study skills advisers and student mentors.
  • The learning centre provides a quiet and welcoming environment 30km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges.

A copy of the text book for each core unit delivered at the learning centre is available for on-site use.

Cloud Peer Assisted Study Sessions 
For additional support, collaborate online with other students a common units.

Solo study made easy
The centre has plenty of computer workstations, wi-fi access and printing and copying facilities.

Writing mentors
Get help with assessments, assignment structure, reports and academic referencing.

Maths mentors
Maths mentors are available for assistance with numeracy and maths queries relating to your course.

Study and meeting rooms
Use a range of learning spaces and rooms for group work, formal presentations and social activities.

Language and learning advisers
Get specialist support for preparing your assignments and to learn about academic writing.

Bachelor of Education (Early Years)

The Bachelor of Education (Early Years) prepares graduates to work in both early childhood and primary education settings. This course can be completed at your local Deakin Learning Centre.

Information sessions for Trimester 1 2017 run from 6pm to 7pm on Tuesday 6 December 2016, Thursday 12 January 2017 and Wednesday 1 February 2017. These sessions will be held at the Deakin Learning Centre – Dandenong and the Mornington Peninsula Campus of Chisholm TAFE at Rosebud.
