A new student experience

Located within the recently completed Building M and N atrium, the new Building N hub will strengthen the student service experience through a redesigned flexible and contemporary environment. It is designed to connect students to more services, support and advice in a centralised, student-focused location.

The new hub will also continue to improve the on campus and cloud student experience by providing consolidation and co-location of Faculty of SEBE and Faculty of Arts and Education service points.

Similarly, the Building Y development expands upon existing Faculty service points in the Health Precinct. This new hub will be located across the existing spaces of Y1.101 to Y1.04.

Extending upon the success of the recently developed Student Centrals in Building LB and Building HE (adjacent to Central Precinct), the current works progressing in Building Y and N are integral to the continued improvement of Deakin’s student service environment.

The new Student Central hubs will include:

  • a student engagement zone
  • a course advice zone
  • smart digital services including self-service options and virtual advice booths
  • private consultation rooms
  • flexible/transformable spaces for pop-up events or peak periods
  • refurbished staff workspaces.

This new style of Student Central hub is also being introduced at the Waurn Ponds campus, with the Central Plaza upgrade expected to be completed in mid-2019.
