Parking

Parking is available at each of our four campuses. Make sure you have a parking permit – parking spaces are in high demand during the first six weeks of Trimester 1 and 2.

How to find parking at our campuses

Parking is available at our Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waterfront, Geelong Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool campuses – in some areas, for free.

Melbourne Burwood Campus

There are two multideck car parks at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, on Elgar Road and Holland Avenue, plus various open air car parks. You will require a parking permit to park on campus.

Geelong Waterfront Campus

Car park 2 (multideck) and car park 3 (open air), both on Smythe Street, have general permit zones. You will require a parking permit to park on campus. Alternatively, public parking is available along Cunningham Pier. Find more public parking options at the City of Greater City Geelong website.

There are free Park and Go bays in car park 3 at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus. You will require a parking permit to park elsewhere on campus.

How to pay for casual parking

Casual parking is the best option if you’re visiting for the day or are an infrequent visitor. Casual parking can be purchased by the hour or by the day through the CellOPark app, which is free to download. You will need to use the relevant CellOPark zone number for registration. The daily price of parking varies by location.

Free shuttle bus services

Take the stress out of getting to campus and finding a car park. Our Geelong intercampus shuttle bus is a free service for students and staff to travel between the Geelong Waurn Ponds and Geelong Waterfront campuses. Choose from three different services, with stops at Barwon Valley Activity Centre and Try Boys Stadium.

How to apply for a parking permit

Deakin students, staff and authorised visitors can manage their long-term parking permits online using the vPermit app on their smartphone. vPermits are available for a minimum of three months and your car registration is all you need to register. vPermit holders can park in the General (white) or Orange permit spaces, depending on your selected permit type.

Daily visitors

Faculties and divisions may issue daily visitor permits to official university guests, via vPermit.

Long-term student permits are available as an upfront payment. No refunds are available and the permit is valid from the date of purchase.

Staff permits

Free parking for motorbikes, scooters and bicycles

Free parking for motorbikes, scooters and bicycles

We have free parking for all types of bikes at each of our campuses. You can park your motorbike or scooter in designated bays or on the footpath, and we have bike racks and monitored bike cages for bicycles.

Carpooling service

Sharing a ride isn't just a nice way to start the morning – it's great for the environment too. We have a dedicated carpool matching service. When you use it to share your ride to campus, you can park for free in any orange or white bay.

Accessible parking

All campuses have accessible parking spaces to support students, staff and visitors who have a valid accessible parking permit issued for their use.

Australian Disability Parking Permits

Category 1 Disabled Persons Parking Permits are no longer issued. New permits are issued as Australian Disability Parking Permits. Both Category 1 Disabled Persons Parking Permits and Australian Disability Parking Permits are valid until expiry. Valid permits must be displayed clearly and a Deakin parking permit is not required. If an accessible parking space is unavailable, vehicles displaying a valid permit may also park in orange or white bays, and a Deakin parking permit is not required.

Victorian Double Time Accessible Parking Permits

Category 2 Disabled Persons Parking Permits are no longer issued.  New permits are issued as Victorian Double Time Accessible Parking Permits. Both Category 2 Disabled Persons Parking Permits and Victorian Double Time Accessible Parking Permits are valid until expiry. Permit holders are not permitted to park in accessible parking bays however vehicles displaying a valid permit are permitted to park in a general white bay for double the duration of their paid parking.

Temporary Accessible Parking Authority

If you have a temporary medical condition you may apply for a Temporary Accessible Parking Authority supported by a medical certificate or letter from a doctor or specialist. A Temporary Accessible Parking Authority must be clearly displayed on the dashboard of a vehicle parked in an accessible bay and is valid for the dates indicated. Have you received a parking infringement?

Parking infringement notices may be issued on campus for illegally parked vehicles. Instructions for paying infringements are noted on the reverse side of the parking infringement notice. Infringements may be issued for: no valid permit; expired parking permits; vehicles that don't have a valid permit for the zone in which the vehicle is parked or vehicles parked in areas other than a marked parking bay.

How to request an internal review

The person issued with the parking infringement notice, or person acting on their behalf, may apply to have the decision to serve the parking infringement notice internally reviewed by the enforcement agency under the Act. All requests for review are facilitated by Bartels, Taylor and Associates on behalf of Deakin University. When you lodge a request for internal review, note Deakin University as the agency mame. Written requests are also accepted and must include full particulars of the infringement, your name and address and are to be sent to:
