Deakin University aims to be a catalyst for positive change for the individuals and the communities it serves.
Across the organisation the University engages with the community on a number of different levels and in a number of different ways; through its teaching, its research, its partnerships and its international programs. At Deakin we also engage with the community by enabling access to University assets and programs; through use of our sporting facilities, our gymnasiums, our restaurants, our galleries and our teaching facilities. For more information regarding public access to, and use of, University facilities and services please visit the Visitors web site.
This year we were pleased to formalise our relationship with several key community partners through the development of our Workplace Giving Program. Deakin is proud to offer support through this program to United Way Geelong, The Smith Family- Learning for Life, Brophy Family and Youth Services (Warrnambool) and Medecins Sans Frontieres.
Our sponsorship program is another vehicle through which we reinforce our core commitments, particularly those related to rural and regional engagement, continuing education and life-long learning and equity and access for individuals and groups who might not otherwise enjoy the benefits that flow from participation in higher education. To learn more about our sponsorship program please visit the sponsorship web page.
In addition, annually Deakin delivers a comprehensive program of public lectures and events. During October each year we schedule a program of events under the campaign DeakinWeek. DeakinWeek showcases the best of Deakin University – bright ideas, creative thinking, innovative teaching and cutting-edge research. For more information on events at Deakin please visit our events calendar.
