Mr Bassat’s address explores the influence of rapid changing technology in the business world. It considers the role of technology in the cannibalisation of businesses, and how drastically the times have changed because of technology.
Developments such as mobile internet and the Cloud, the emergence of a sharing economy and changes to the nature of work and the workforce required to complete it are all discussed. Companies such as Amazon, Google and Melways are all used as examples, and have all been influenced and forced to adapt or fade out with the introduction of these ideas. Mr Bassat addresses these concepts, among others, including the impact of social media as it exploded in popularity and how it helps, and hinders, business and start-ups.
