Deakin Law School congratulates alumnus on Federal Circuit Court appointment

A recent Federal Government move to fill a number of judicial vacancies has seen Deakin Law School alumnus Dr Joshua Wilson QC appointed as a judge of the Federal Circuit Court.

Judge Wilson completed his PhD in extradition law at Deakin in 2008. He is also a member of the Deakin Law School’s Law Advisory Board and teaches into the law program.

He completed a course for Articled Clerks at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1982 and has a Master of Law from the University of Melbourne in addition to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Deakin.

Judge Wilson was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1983, and enrolled as a practitioner in the High Court of Australia in that same year. Since then Judge Wilson has been admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory (1987), as a barrister in the Supreme Court of Tasmania (1988), as a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Western Australia (1994), and as a barrister in the Supreme Court of Queensland (1995). Dr Wilson was appointed Senior Counsel in Victoria in 2008 and became Queen’s Counsel in Victoria in 2014.
