See Deakin University from a different perspective at Burwood campus Open Day

Step into an immersive virtual reality experience, watch maggots create colourful paintings, or test your resuscitation skills in the Nursing clinical simulation centre at Open Day at Deakin University's Burwood campus on Sunday 23 August from 9am – 4pm.

Be one of the first to experience the brand new Telstra Trading Room, which will be officially launched on Open Day. This progressive teaching space features state-of-the-art equipment including tickers, ASX and Bloomberg real feeds on the trading wall to give students a first-hand look at the fast-paced world of share trading.

Open Day is also the only place you can hop aboard Flight DX3K, an immersive virtual reality tour of Deakin's campuses in the Virtual Reality CAVE. Get your boarding pass and hold on tight as we take you on an amazing flight over all four Deakin campuses and through some incredible learning spaces!

Current students will be leading campus tours every 30 minutes and staff will host information sessions on everything from courses and careers to accommodation and scholarships. Visitors should look out for the Segway tours, food trucks, roving entertainment and photographers, too.

A free Open Day shuttle bus will be available from regional centres to the Burwood campus throughout the day.

Deakin's Burwood campus is home to more than 23,000 students and Open Day is the perfect opportunity to discover life at Deakin. With its own art gallery, gym, numerous eateries and plenty of spaces to chill out, students are never short of something to do on campus.

• Creative arts tour Discover Deakin's creative and performing arts facilities, including the television studio, editing labs, dance studio, performance spaces and photography darkrooms.
• Maggot Art! Watch the maggots create artwork and learn how maggots are being used to research the relationship between blowflies, maggots and bacteria.
• Nursing clinical simulation centre Tour the fully-equipped mock hospital ward compete with technologically advanced and responsive human patient simulation mannequins and find out more about a fulfilling career in Nursing. 
• Television studio Join in crewing the TV studio or be part of the live audience. Activities run all day with special guest appearances and surprises.
• Institute for Frontier Materials Discover a new generation of energy devices. Researchers at IFM's Burwood laboratory aim to develop new energy technologies through the creation of new electroactive materials.
• IT computer labs Visit interactive displays to see examples of students' work created studying IT. Meet the fun and cute humanoids!
• Exercise and sport science lab tours Visit the specialist laboratories and new facilities including the Exercise Physiology lab, Biomechanics lab, and the Clinical Exercise Learning Centre (CELC).
