The Institute for Technology Research and Innovation
Council received for information a presentation by the Executive Director of the Institute for Technology Research and Innovation, Professor Andrew Parratt, on the context, performance and current issues for the Institute for Technology Research and Innovation.

Approval of the Operational Plan 2009
Council approved the Deakin University Operational Plan for 2009.

Approval of the Business Plan 2009-2011
Council approved the Deakin University Business Plan 2009–2011, incorporating:

  • the University Financial Plan 2009–2011
  • the 2009 Budget
  • the Capital Expenditure Program 2009.

Approval of the major capital projects to commence in 2009
Council approved business cases for the following new major capital expenditure projects to commence in 2009:

  • 1,000 seat lecture theatre/auditorium at the Melbourne Campus at Burwood
  • Infrastructure for additional student housing at the Melbourne Campus at Burwood
  • Burwood Highway frontage building at the Melbourne Campus at Burwood (for planning, design and development of tender documentation only)
  • Waurn Ponds farmland infrastructure at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds
  • Shared laboratories – Science building at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds
  • Process science laboratory at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds
  • Science research building at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds
  • Fit-out of Dennys Lascelles levels 4 and 5 at the Geelong Waterfront Campus
  • Fit-out and development of Dennys Lascelles level 6 at the Geelong Waterfront Campus
  • Thermal comfort improvements at multiple Campuses
  • Environmental sustainability projects at multiple Campuses.
