Postgraduate recruitment’s virtual online events

In an exciting new initiative for recruitment at Deakin, virtual online events for prospective postgraduate students were held for the first time in October.

The virtual events were held as part of a widespread postgraduate recruitment campaign, also involving traditional information evenings and a large scale advertising campaign.

The virtual events catered to those who were unable to attend the information evenings by allowing them to find out information and ask questions in the comfort of their home or workplace.

After registering, participants were sent a URL through which to access the virtual room at the designated presentation time. The virtual tour presentations were in the areas of The Deakin MBA; Postgraduate Study: fees, flexible study options and more; Nutrition and Dietetics; Nursing and Midwifery: postgraduate courses and careers; and Law @ Deakin. Academic and general staff conducted the presentations and were on hand to answer questions when the presentations concluded.

Early reports indicate the virtual events were very successful and there is scope to increase their use for future events.

The postgraduate information evenings combined with the virtual events attracted 255 prospective students.

The Marketing Division would like to thank the Faculty staff for their assistance in these successful events, particularly the Faculty of Business and Law and the Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences for their participation in the online events.
