Not sure how to list your preferences?
Deciding on what order to make your preferences is simple – just follow these few tips.
•Research all your options thoroughly.
- Do your courses offer flexibility? Deakin offers a trimester system, deferment, part and full-time study and on and off-campus options, depending on your course of study.
- Do your courses offer industry accreditation or affiliation? Deakin's courses are reviewed by industry representatives, ensuring courses are relevant, practical and prepare you for the real world.
- Research Deakin's course structure, subjects, fees and career paths at the future students website.
Ensure that you have the prerequisites for your chosen courses
•Make a list of all extra requirements and the cut-off dates (including those for any courses you may wish to add to your preference lists during the Change of Preference period)
•List all the courses you are interested in. The codes can be found in the 2009 VTAC Guide
• Check the VTAC codes. Remember, codes ending in:
1 = Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) (domestic students only)
2 = Fee Paying Courses (Relevant for courses offered by independent tertiary colleges such as Melbourne Institute of Business Technology)
3 = Fee-Paying Place (FPP) (international students only)
• Check if you’re eligible to apply for Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) (external site) or Special Year 12 Consideration. Speak to your careers adviser, or access a copy of the SEAS booklet (from external site). Also, check out Deakin’s SEAS information. The closing date is October 10 2008.
