Engineering at Deakin is growing.

Hands-on experience in Deakin’s Engineering courses ranges from designing and building a Formula SAE racing car to building robots.

Students have the chance to take part in Industry-Based Learning, internships and final-year industry-based projects to gain workplace experience and develop valuable networks.

Geelong Technology Precinct (GTP) display

At the GTP, researchers and industry combine to solve real world problems.

The precinct focuses on Deakin’s core research capabilities in materials, biotechnology, chemistry, and environmental engineering, along with regional strengths in manufacturing.

Come along and see:

  • results of research into carbon fibre composites
  • electron microscopes which allow scientists to investigate the surfaces of materials on a nano-scale: from gekos to superhydrophobic fabrics; from nanopowdered wool to solar cells
  • T2! Deakin’s answer to the Ford Global Challenge – a Model-T for the 21st century
  • Hands-on demonstrations for you to touch, see and feel!
