Parking
Parking is available at each of our four campuses. Make sure you have a parking permit. Parking spaces are in high demand during the first six weeks of Trimester 1 and 2.
How to find parking at our campuses
Parking is available at our Melbourne Burwood, Geelong Waterfront, Geelong Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool campuses – in some areas, for free.
Find car park locations at each of our campuses by downloading the campus maps below – car parks are marked with a blue and white ‘P’.
Melbourne Burwood Campus
There are two multideck car parks at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, on Elgar Road and Holland Avenue, plus various open-air car parks. You will require a parking permit to park on campus.
Geelong Waterfront Campus
Car park 2 (multideck) and car park 3 (open-air) are both located on Smythe Street. You will require a parking permit to park on campus.
Please note – visitors cannot access Waterfront Campus parking between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, public parking is available along Cunningham Pier. Find more public parking options at the City of Greater City Geelong website.
Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus
There are free Park and Go bays in car park 3 at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus. You will require a parking permit to park elsewhere on campus.
Warrnambool Campus
Parking in 'General' permit zones (white-lined spaces) at the Warrnambool Campus is free.
How to pay for casual parking
OPark is Deakin’s short-term parking permit solution.
What you need to do:
- Download the free OPark app from either Google Play or Apple Store.
- Register and then use the OPark app to start a parking permit session.
- Should you require help, assistance isn’t far away. Email your questions to OPark or call 6160 1012.

Casual parking can be purchased by the hour or by the day through the OPark app, which is free to download. You will need to use the relevant OPark zone number when starting a parking permit session. The daily price of parking varies by location and OPark permits are only valid in ‘General’ permit zones (white bays). Please do not park in orange bays as these require a different permit type.

Electric vehicle charging stations
As part of our commitment to sustainability, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations are available at three of our campuses. To pay for charging, download the Chargefox app on your smartphone – it costs $0.25 kWh for the first three hours and $1.60 kWh after that. Vehicles must be charging when parked in an EV parking space. Charging stations are located at the following campuses:
- Melbourne Burwood, CP12 Level 2 (two stations)
- Geelong Waterfront, CP2 ground floor (four stations)
- Geelong Waurn Ponds, CP1 (four stations)
- Warrnambool, Lodge Drive (one station).
Free shuttle bus services
Take the stress out of getting to campus and finding a car park. Our Geelong intercampus shuttle bus is a free service for Deakin students and staff to travel between the Geelong Waurn Ponds and Geelong Waterfront campuses. Choose from three different services, with stops at Barwon Valley Activity Centre and Try Boys Stadium.
How to apply for a parking permit
Deakin students, staff and authorised tenants/contractors can purchase a long-term parking permit, valid for 120 days or 365 days from the date of purchase, via the vPermit website. To register, you’ll need your vehicle registration details and a valid credit card.
vPermit holders can park in 'General' permit zones (white-lined spaces) or Orange permit zones, depending on eligibility and the type of permit selected.
Once registered, you can manage the vehicles listed on your vPermit through the vPermit app.
Students, staff and authorised tenants/contractors
Students, staff or authorised tenants/contractors who park on campus regularly can purchase a 120-day or 365-day permit.

Daily visitors
Faculties and divisions may issue daily visitor permits to official university guests, via vPermit.
Parking permit fees
Long-term parking permits are available for students, staff and authorised tenants/contractors.
Long-term student permits are available as an upfront payment. No refunds are available and the permit is valid from the date of purchase.

Staff can purchase long-term parking permits as an upfront payment or ongoing salary sacrifice deductions. There are no refunds for upfront payments and the permit is valid from the date of purchase.

Free parking for motorbikes, scooters and bicycles
We have free parking for all types of bikes at each of our campuses. You can park your motorbike or scooter in designated bays or on the footpath, so long as you don’t obstruct pedestrian access. We also have bike racks and monitored bike cages for bicycles.
Accessible parking
All campuses have accessible parking spaces to support students, staff and visitors who have a valid accessible parking permit issued for their use.
Australian Disability Parking Permits
Australian Disability Parking Permits are valid until expiry. Permit holders are permitted to park in accessible parking bays. Valid permits must be clearly displayed and a Deakin parking permit is not required. If an accessible parking space is unavailable, vehicles displaying a valid permit may also park in Orange or White bays, and a Deakin parking permit is not required.
Victorian Double Time Accessible Parking Permits
Victorian Double Time Accessible Parking Permits are valid until expiry. Permit holders are not permitted to park in accessible parking bays, however they are permitted to park in time limited bays for double the time shown on the parking sign. Please note these permits are not valid in a General permit zone (white bay) where a Deakin parking permit is required (OPark or long-term vPermit).
Temporary Accessible Parking Authority
Staff and students that have a temporary medical condition can apply for a Temporary Accessible Parking Authority support by a medical certificate or letter from a doctor or specialist. A Temporary Accessible Parking Authority must be clearly displayed on the dashboard of a vehicle parked in an accessible bay and is valid for the dates indicated. Have you received a parking infringement?
Parking infringement notices may be issued on campus for illegally parked vehicles. Instructions for paying infringements are noted on the reverse side of the parking infringement notice. Infringements may be issued for: no valid permit; expired parking permits; vehicles that don't have a valid permit for the zone in which the vehicle is parked or vehicles parked in areas other than a marked parking bay.
How to request an internal review
The person issued with the parking infringement notice, or person acting on their behalf, may apply to have the decision to serve the parking infringement notice internally reviewed by the enforcement agency under the Act. All requests for review are facilitated by Bartels, Taylor and Associates on behalf of Deakin University. When you lodge a request for internal review, note Deakin University as the agency name. Written requests are also accepted and must include full particulars of the infringement, your name and address and are to be sent to:
