Partnerships and collaborations

Our collaborative research has developed technologies across the health sector, improved surveillance and used social media analysis to understand community structures. We have partnerships with industry and academia around Australia. Together we've created the software iCetana, apps TOBY Playpad and iHosp and more.

Barwon Health

Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. 

It's also one of Australia's largest regional employers. It's a major education provider through relationships with Deakin University and a number of other educational bodies.

Achievements with Barwon Health

By partnering with Barwon Health we've:

  • created a software platform, iHosp, to improve hospital efficiency
  • developed a machine learning program to help reduce the incidence of suicide in patients.

Autism West Support Inc

Autism West Support Inc is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of services to people who are affected by autism.

It aims to provide families with support and tools to help children reach their full potential. It also raises community awareness through education programs and events.

Achievements with Autism West

By collaborating with Autism West, we developed the TOBY Playpad app. The app is an adaptive early intervention program for children with autism.

It monitors each child’s performance and adjusts lessons accordingly. Thanks to TOBY, children are learning new social, cognitive and sensory skills.

Telstra and Prada have established a Centre of Excellence in Big data and Machine Learning. The centre will focus on specific Telstra problems, including diverse network cross channel anomaly detection and pervasive health.

The Telethon Institute for Child Health Research

The Telethon Institute for Child Health Research is one of the largest and most successful medical research institutes in Australia. It comprises a dedicated and diverse team of more than 500 staff and students.

Established in 1990 by Professor Fiona Stanley, it was among the first to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to major health issues, and has strong affiliations with hospitals and universities.

Black Dog Institute

The Black Dog Institute is a world leader in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. Its research focus is in e-health interventions, particularly the prevention and treatment of anxiety, depression and suicide.

It aims to evaluate online programs for prevention and treatment of mental disorders, and integrate new technologies into health care.

Research with Black Dog Institute

The Centre is working with the Black Dog Institute to identify deviations in social media that could predict suicide risk and help with the development of an early warning system.
