About the Planning and Resources Committee

The Planning and Resources Committee is the key advisory body to the Vice-Chancellor on matters linking planning and resourcing decisions and policy.  Membership comprises:  the Executive; the Director, Human Resources Division; the Director, Institute of Koorie Education; the Director, Quality Improvement; the Director, Strategic Intelligence and Planning; the University Librarian and a student representative.  Its responsibilities include:

  • providing input to the development of each year's Operational Plan for the University and the annual review of the Strategic Plan
  • developing the annual budget for approval by Council, via its Finance and Business Affairs Committee, to give effect to the University's Operational Plan
  • reviewing, on a quarterly basis, of the financial position of each budget unit
  • reviewing performance against Operational Plans for the University, Faculties and annually identifying areas for improvement and consequential re-planning
  • assessing the strategic (including financial) merits of introducing new courses, continuing existing courses and making major revisions to existing courses
  • advising on student load shifts in the context of the consideration of annual changes to the University's educational profile 
  • assessing the strategic (including financial) merits of existing or proposed partnerships, including arrangements with offshore teaching partners.
