Much of my research interests fall under the broad area of gender, health, sexuality education and student well being. I am interested in capacity building, pedagogy, teacher practice and professional learning, particular as it relates to sensitive issues in health and sexuality education. My Masters research focused on exploring the impact of curricula on young womens understanding of violence against women. My doctoral study examined capacity building in sexuality education with a particular focus on teacher practice and professional learning in the area of gender and sexual diversity. Since finishing my PhD I have been researching the impact of a holistic health and physical education intervention on adolescent girls connectedness; the impact of professional learning on pre-service teachers ability and preparedness to teach sexuality education; research and development on respectful relationships and preventing gender based violence. Most recently I have become involved in researching capacity building in sexuality education in a P-12 setting.
I am a qualitative researcher interested in mix methods and the link between research and practice.
