Biography

Dr M. E. Haque received his Ph.D degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.  After completing Ph.D in Electrical Engg, Dr Haque worked as an academic for the  University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia (Assistant Professor), United Arab Emirates University, UAE (Assistant Professor) and University of Tasmania (UTAS), Hobart,  Australia  (Research fellow, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer) . He has also worked for power industries in Bangladesh and Malaysia. He has been awarded the “University of Tasmania Teaching Merit Award”, for outstanding contribution in teaching & learning at UTAS in 2010. He has also been awarded teaching award at Deakin University in 2017.

- Power management & control of Microgrid with Distributed & renewable energy sources

- cyber security in smart grid

He has made significant contributions to his research areas and published one book and 90 international journal/conference papers. His papers have been regularly citing by peers and currently the total number of citations count to 2057 (h-index 18) in Google scholar and 1497 (h-index 17) in Scopus. At UTAS, he was actively involved and played a pivotal role in the development of “Centre for Renewable Energy and Power Systems (CREPS) for renewable energy and power system”.  He was successful in obtaining more than 1.1 million research fundings from industries and Universities.   Dr. Haque has successfully supervised seven postgraduate students.


Dr Haque has been actively involved in professional activities and well served the school committees, engineering profession, industry and the professional communities. He is a regular reviewer/organiser of prestigious IEEE,  IET and Elsevier journals and IEEE Conferences. Since 1996, he is an active Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE), USA. He has been awarded the Senior Membership of IEEE, USA in 2010.. he is the current Chair of iEEE IAS Victorian Chapter and Treasurer of IEEE PES Victorian Chapter.
