Ms Amy Edmonds
Bachelor of Commerce

Graduated: Bachelor of Commerce, Melbourne Burwood Campus, 2008
Works: Analyst, Deloitte

Amy Edmonds was one of the few top students chosen for the sought after Dean’s Scholars Program when she entered Deakin in 2005. As she progressed through her course she developed a passion for finance and is now employed as an analyst with well-known company Deloitte, a position she credits to Deakin’s ‘Careers Week’ program.

‘A few people from Deloitte attended Careers Week and told me about the company. I really liked them so I applied and I probably would not be in the job I have now without that,’ she says. In 2007, Amy capitalised on another great opportunity provided by Deakin when she completed the first semester of her final year of study at the University of Massachusetts. ‘It was a totally different experience seeing uni from another country. I had never travelled before and I was meeting people from all over the world,’ she says.

Amy found Deakin staff very supportive and she particularly valued the provision of audio streaming of lectures. She was also impressed with the structure of the course which sees everyone cover the core subjects embracing the different areas of business before choosing to specialise in one or more areas of study.

In 2009 Amy successfully completed units in the Graduate Certificate of Chartered Accounting Foundations at Deakin, which enabled her current enrolment in the Chartered Accountants Program with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
