‘Deakin offered me some wonderful opportunities … like an undergraduate scholarship and an Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) scholarship to continue my PhD studies. This was one of the main attractions to Deakin but its country town feel also made it an easier transition for me than a city-based university. I learnt many ‘soft’ skills at Deakin … including client facing, presentations, polishing my documentation and communications. It’s not just a degree and the addition of these gives me a professional edge in the workplace.

I got to do two work placements as part of my undergraduate studies. These really helped me to take a hands-on approach to the coursework I had been learning.

Deakin is encouraging … in terms of ideas for future
careers and providing a range of networking opportunities. You make a lot of friends through the University and things like this contribute to your overall confidence and maturity.’
