Mr Dean Harwood Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (Dean’s Scholars Program – Engineering) Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus ‘I chose this field of study because at school I enjoyed and did well at maths, physics and design subjects, and I also had an interest in anything mechanical. Engineering seemed the obvious choice. As a local resident, Deakin’s Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus gave me the opportunity to do the course I wanted, whilst being able to stay at home and continue my part-time work and my involvement with the CFA. At uni, I have had the opportunity to participate in Industry-Based Learning during a 12-week work placement at the Ford Motor Company. I have also had some involvement in the student Formula Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) racing team. After graduating I plan to get a job in one of the wide range of career opportunities … I'm still exploring the options, but I'm interested in product development and something that involves a lot of technical engineering and design.’ Find more information at http://www.deakin.edu.au/future-students/areas-of-study/engineering.php
