Ms Natasha Cooper Bachelor of Education (Primary) Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus Graduated: 2008 Employed: Christian College, Geelong ‘The thing I enjoyed most about my course at Deakin was the range of subjects I was able to complete, which covered everything I needed to begin a teaching career. We completed science, English, mathematics, physical education and many more units, and this was a great way to break the course down and make it interesting and enjoyable. After completing my degree I was offered a job at Christian College in Geelong. I applied for a Year 5 position, however was offered a Year 7 position teaching English, mathematics, Christian education and humanities in addition to Year 5 visual art. It was an excellent challenge and the great thing about Deakin’s course is that you are not restricted to prep to Year 6 teaching. What I enjoy most about my job is seeing the students develop as the year progresses – in their study, friendships and maturity. Watching them succeed and achieve their goals is definitely a rewarding aspect of teaching. I enjoy getting to know the students, being a part of their life – for a moment in time – and hopefully being a positive role model.’ Find more information at http://www.deakin.edu.au/future-students/areas-of-study/teaching.php |
