Mohammadreza Mohebbi joined the DBSU in April 2013 as a senior research fellow. As a biostatistician he was involved in design and analysis of large occupational cohort studies, clinical trials and statistical issues related to survey data.
He received his Ph.D. from Monash University. In 2012 he went to the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine at Monash University as a biostatistician research fellow. Prior to that Mohammadreza was involved in collaborative research in medical and public health fields and has been responsible for the design, monitoring, and analysis of clinical trials, population based surveys and observational studies.
Mohammadreza’s research has focused on the development of statistical methods for the analysis of large observational data with the ultimate goal of addressing important questions in environmental epidemiology, health related impacts of climate change, and spatial disease mapping. He is an expert in Bayesian methods, longitudinal data analysis, geo-spatial modelling, and Bayesian hierarchical models. He has extensive experience on the development of statistical methods and their applications to environmental epidemiology, cluster randomised trials, spatial epidemiology, and epidemiological study designs. Mohammadreza has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications.
Mohammadreza taught Introductory Biostatistics, Qualitative Research Methods in Public Health, Analysis of Longitudinal Data, and Multilevel Statistical Models. He has been co-supervisor of 6 PhD students and 9 post-graduates.
