Renata Lemos Morais holds a joint PhD in Communications and Semiotics from the European Graduate School (EGS, Switzerland) and São Paulo Catholic University (PUC, Brazil). Her research is interdisciplinary, integrating culture, science, design and technology. Her latest book (Digital Social Networks: Twitter's Connective Cognition), was published in 2010 in co-authorship with Dr. Lucia Santaella. She is a member of the International Center for Transdisciplinary Research (CIRET) and speaks regularly at glocal events such as Social Media Week and TEDx. She has wide experience as a media innovation consultant, applying design thinking to media strategies at various organisations.
