Synopsis: This seminar introduces the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct in Research, which covers a number of issues that we may not ever have thought of explicitly, but which are vital for appropriate behaviour when we are doing research. These include matters such as managing your data (what is data? where should it be stored? who owns it?); publishing responsibly; authorship (guidelines on who should be an author and who should not); peer review; conflicts of interest; and research misconduct. After this general introduction there will be a short introduction to human research ethics. The second half of the workshop will be devoted to discussions of a series of case studies that highlight some of the risks and dilemmas that researchers may encounter.

THIS IS A COMPULSORY WORKSHOP FOR ALL HDR CANDIDATES
